He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Thompson and Inez Thompson (Bidwell); and his siblings, Lloyd, Delbert, Donald, Gerald, Wayland, Madeline Robinson and Thelma Simpson.
He is survived by: his children, Ernest Thompson (Karen) of Sheffield, VT, Dianne Lambert (Maurice) of Bethlehem, NH, Darlene Fadden (Jim) of Bethlehem, NH and Marion Thompson Nelson (Alisa Turner) of Lyndonville, VT.; his grandchildren, Amanda McClellan, Joseph Nelson, Becky Thompson, Julie Thompson, Tessa Nelson and Cooper Nelson; and his great grandchild Sawyer McClellan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the William Dexter Cemetery (214 Dexter Cemetery Rd, Sheffield, VT 05866).
