He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Leroy Buffum Sr. and Helene Saltus Buffum. He is survived by: his wife Ann Zinn of Brooklyn; his sister Linda (Lauriston) of Tinmouth; his children, Lisa Rodriguez of Gilsum, Damon Buffum (Marilee) of Fairport and Dylan Buffum (Laura) of Efland; his grandchildren, Sam, Andrew and Olivia; his children, Chloe, Colin, Darby, Riley, Danielle, Nathan, Grace and Ben Buffum; and his nephews, Matthew of Mexico and Trevor of Houston, Texas.. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
In 1982, Carl founded and became director of The Hayes Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing academic enrichment and financial support to bright, motivated students from Rutland County.
