He was predeceased by: his father Leslie Walter Gilbert; and his pets, Jarvis, Genette, August, Freddie and Sammie.

He is survived by: his wife Eva; his aunt Kathleen Hawley; his siblings-in-law, Lazaro Olvera and Anna Olvera; his nephew Jason Olvera; and his pets, Archie, Harley and LuLu.
