He was predeceased by : his mother Elizabeth Kley. He is survived by : his father Karl Kley; his wife Gina Fagan Kley; his granddaughter Bailey A. McFerren; his sister Nancy DeMent (Dan DeMent); his stepsons, Nathaniel Miller and Jeremiah Miller (Jon Day); his niece Gail DeMent; his nephew Cory DeMent (Regan DeMent); and his granddaughter Bryttney McFerren.

Due to Robert's love of his beloved Washington state, and gratitude for Animals as Natural Therapy, the family requests donations be made to Washington State Parks and Animals as Natural Therapy of Whatcom County.
