He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Marie VanZanden (Boone) and Theodore Sr. VanZanden; and his sister-in-law Margaret Marie Parkhurst. He is survived by: his wife Carol Anna VanZanden (Erchinger); his children, Ted Jon VanZanden, Pieter Christian VanZanden (Lucy Mae) and Anna Marie Whelan (Charles); his grandchildren, Jacob Souza, Jadon VanZanden and Genevieve Whelan; and his sister Mary Bard (Richard) of Michigan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The military honors will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Greenacres (5700 Northwest Dr, Ferndale, WA 98248). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Cordata Presbyterian Church (400 Meadowbrook Ct, Bellingham, WA 98226).
