He is survived by: his wife Karen Englund (Ross); his sons, Alex (Mandy), Adam (Ashley) and Joshua (Bobbie); his grandchildren, Alexia, Aiden, Karson, Emma, Noah and Tucker; his sisters, Teri Acklus and Sheri Prokorym (Ray); his sisters-in-law, Sue Vernon (Allen), Michele O'Brien and Francine Pollock (Jim); and his caregiver Miguel Viernes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Gary's name.
