Robert L. Brooks Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the Cowlitz Grange, 5184 Jackson Highway, Toledo, WA 98591. See details below. Robert "Bob" Brooks passed away September 4, 2015 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. Bob was born on October 18, 1951 to Paul and Gwen (Alexander) Brooks in Seattle, Washington.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lynette; his children, Holly Zigler of Centralia and Richard (Lisa) Stewart of Hollywood, Florida; and three granddaughters, Taylor Zigler and Sydney Zigler of Centralia, and Libby Selwood of Hollywood, Florida. He is also survived by four siblings, Pauletta (Bob) Brooks King of Olympia, Susan (Tony) Brooks Seip of Elma, Steven (Teresa) Kelley-Brooks of Olympia, and James Brooks of Tukwila; and sister-in-law, Diane Brooks.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis Brooks, and his parents, Paul and Gwen. Bob graduated from Napavine High School in 1970. He married the love of his life, Lynette, in 1985 in Chehalis, Washington and they made their home in Centralia. Bob most recently worked as a truck driver for Sorenson Transportation Company, Chehalis.

Bob was always dependable. Although he was a quiet man, he was funny, intelligent, compassionate, and sarcastic if you listened closely. He was all about family and never missed a chance to get together with the "Brooks kids" and his children and grandchildren. He loved everyone he ever met, as evidenced by the number of people who recall the hospitality he freely offered in his home over the years.

He loved working crossword puzzles, reading, researching any question, and, especially, spending time with his family. He was always there for his granddaughters, supporting them in all their activities. Bob loved watching sports on TV, being the loudest in the room at yelling and clapping every time the Seahawks made a touchdown.

He was a true 12! Bob never got over the Sonics leaving Seattle and always held out hope that they would return soon.
