He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ahrens and Lillian Ahrens (Steinmeyer); his brother Paul Ahrens; his sister-in-law Barbara Sailor; and his stepdaughter Pamela Urick.
He is survived by: his wife Leslie; his children, Robert Ahrens (Shannon) and Lyz Conklin (Bob); his brother John Ahrens (Sylvia); his sisters-in-law, Rene Ahrens, Laura Twitchell, Jennifer Beards and Lisa Cavanaugh; his stepchildren, Laura Phifer, David and Paul Urick; Leslie. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
