It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Rita Wittorf Oesterwinter of Gig Harbor, Washington, who passed away at the age of 96, on April 27, 2026. As we bid Rita farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Rita is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Agnes Wittorf and Max Wittorf of Neumünster Germany; her son Peter Oesterwinter; and her sister Ruth Blunck. She is survived by: her sister Sigrid Kluth; and her daughters, Heidi Johnson (William), Kathi Johnson (Edward), Inge Kelly (Kevin), Marion Geib (Frank) and Sylvia Oesterwinter. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and dear friends.
