With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Jane Smith of Graham, Washington, born in Tacoma, Washington, who passed away on January 7, 2024 at the age of 102. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Edwin Erickson and Clara Erickson; her siblings, Erling Erickson (Thelma) and Maxine Johnson (John Glyn Smith); her son Greg Smith; and her nephew Eric Erickson.

She is survived by : her close friend Bob Newgard; her sons, Brad (Shelley) and Scott (Gina); her grandchildren, Brandon (Angie), Ashley (Andrew), Scottie and Hunter; her great grandchildren, Emily, Haley, Jade, Mackenzie and Tucker; and her great great grandchild Estella.

Tara Kleca wrote a sympathy message

“I’m so sorry for the passing of your mother. Living until 102, I hope she got the most out of life and had a peaceful passing. I also am forever in her debt for the life she gave to Scott because Scott saved my life about 45 years ago when he passed by a “dog fight” and went to break it up. Upon getting there he found a child, that child was me. I have been trying to find you for years and thank you. I am sorry it has to be from a sad event, but I am eternally grateful. Tara Kleca”
