He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Bean and Maude Bean; his wives, Evelyn Cowles and Betty; his brother Dale; his son Jack; his son-in-law Donald Lovegren; and his stepdaughter Linda Young.

He is survived by: his brother Ronald Bean; his children, David Bean (Georgene), Virginia Lovgren and Vikki Brockmoller (Willie); his daughter-in-law Nancy Bean; and his stepdaughters, Pamela Hill, Angie Flahaut (Dan) and Lois Sandbak (Curtis). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital in his memory—a cause that was close to Gerald's heart.
