Derrick Hinton Obituary

Derrick D. Hinton, 60, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2025, at his home in Kent, Washington. Born August 22, 1965, in Richmond, Virginia, Derrick lived a life full of love, laughter, and service to others.

Derrick proudly served nine years in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his strength, discipline, and deep sense of commitment. After his military service, he worked as a project manager at Carefusion, where he was employed for 15 years.

In 2013, after suffering a stroke and medically retiring, Derrick met life’s challenges with courage and an unbreakable spirit, choosing joy, connection, and adventure every chance he could.

Derrick had a gift for bringing people together. He never met a stranger, always had a story to tell, and was known as the family comedian and beloved “mixologist,” bringing levity and flavor, to every gathering.

At the center of Derrick’s life, was his love for his wife Tracy, his partner for over eighteen years and wife of nine. Together they shared travel, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a devoted father to Victoria, Alexandra, and Malique, and a proud grandfather to Jaden, Mason, and Liam.

Derrick is deeply loved and mourned by his mother Carlotta; father Ivory; mother-in-law Corliss; father-in-law LaMar; sister Gwen; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, who cherished his presence in their lives. He is reunited in rest with his grandparents David and Dazzelle, and brother, Timothy.
