He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Walton Lucas and Ruby Meador Lucas; and his sisters, Evelyn Lois Jackson and Mildred Stevens Edwards. He is survived by: his wife Bettye Lightsey Lucas of Laurel, MS; his daughters, Mary Anderson, Karen Miller and Patricia Richardson (Robert); his grandchildren, Lucas Anderson (Kyli), Kimberley Miller and Rebecca Beard (Peter); and his great grandchild Hannah Anderson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
