He is survived by: his children, Gary Vander Stelt (Kristine), Kevin Vander Stelt (Jane), Karen Vander Stelt and Dale Vander Stelt (Melisa); his grandchildren, Aaron Vander Stelt (Brenda), Jason Vander Stelt (Toni), Adam Vander Stelt, Eric Vander Stelt (Amanda), Max Trickett (Kiara), Jackson Vander Stelt and Hope Vander Stelt; his sisters, Johanna Hielkema of Sibley, Dorothy Van Der Weide and Betty Lou Van Der (Rod); and his sisters-in-law, Jesse Van Hofwegen of Lynden, WA and Wilma Vander Stelt of Maurice Iowa.
