It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Assink of Lynden, Washington, who passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jim Assink to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin G. Assink and Adelaide Assink; his stepmother Jean; his brother Bill; his brother-in-law Wayne Spellman; and his in-laws, Paul and Irma Spellman.
He is survived by: his wife Gail; his children, Laura TeVelde (Kevin), Judy Small (Randy) and Paul Assink (Sharon) of Lynden; his siblings, Charlotte Heutink (Roger) and Don Assink (Carol); his siblings-in-law, Gary Spellman (Marva) and Sue Spellman; his grandchildren, Grant TeVelde, Kent TeVelde (Allison), Luke TeVelde (Leah), Emily Assink, Abigail, Ryan and Courtney Small; and his great grandchildren, Linda TeVelde and Amber TeVelde. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be given to First CRC for their live streaming program which was such a blessing to Jim later in life, and to Whatcom Hospice Foundation (2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98225) which gave great comfort and dignity in his final days.
