He was predeceased by: his parents, Egbert Stegink and Julia Stegink (Dykstra); his siblings, Martin (Lois), Grethel Genzink (Don) and Julia Berkompas (Ed); and his brother-in-law Andy Buursma.

He is survived by: his wife Harlean; his daughters, Valerie Sterk (Don), Sharon Geleynse, Jill Roderick (Mike) and Mary Jo Brill (Rick); his grandchildren, Avery Sterk (Sarah), Evan Sterk (Abby), Landon Sterk (Rae), Toby Sterk (Katie), Derek Geleynse (Makena), Katelyn Rusthoven (Chris), Makayla Bullard (Blaine), Travis Roderick (Kara), Luke Roderick (Ceara), Zack Brill and Nick Brill; his siblings, John Stegink (Eunice), Pat Buursma and Eileen Dolbee (Jim); and his siblings-in-law, Ferrel Stremler, Aubin Stremler, Gordon Stremler (Marilyn), Gretchen Feller (Ed), Cheeta Stremler, Virgil Stremler, Arnie Van Dyken, Gloria Tisdel, Ruth Stremler and Marilyn Stremler. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
