With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Oscar DeVries (Lynden, Washington), born in Rock Valley, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Oscar left this world on May 23, 2026 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Klass DeVries and Winnie DeVries. He is survived by: his significant other Jolois Hoksbergen; his children, Kurt (late Debbie), Gina (late Steve), Oren (Jill) and Arlene; and his stepchildren, Denny (Rose), David (Carol) and Diane (late Doug). He is also survived by his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Services (202 Front St, Lynden, WA 98264). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sumas Cemetery (9400 Sumas Rd, Sumas, WA 98295). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church (602 E 2nd St, Nooksack, WA 98276).
