He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert DeKriek and Tiny DeKriek (Harriet Tiemeyer); his sister Debbie Dodson; and his sister-in-law Phyllis DeKriek. He is survived by: his children, Pam DeRose (John), Denise Bergsma (Glenn), Burt DeKriek (Leslie) and Sharon DeKriek (Davian); his grandchildren, Ashly Huartson, Amanda Hawkes, Johnny DeRose, Lindsey Kortus, Davian Ponce, Marquez Ponce and Lexi Gibson; and his siblings, John DeKriek, Bill DeKriek, Lori Smith and Marie DeKriek.
