He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy VanderWerff and Bertha VanderWerff; his siblings, Duane VanderWerff and Mary Ann VanderWerff; his brothers-in-law, Harvey Weeda and Gerrit Byeman; his parents-in-law, Cornelius and Pearl Byeman; and his stepmother-in-law Frances Byeman.

He is survived by: his wife Christina VanderWerff (Byeman); his sons, Brad VanderWerff (Jania) and Greg VanderWerff (Heidi); his grandsons, Joseph and Tyler; his son Rod VanderWerff (La Von); his grandchildren, Brandon Stremler, Taylor and Carter; his daughter Carmen Williams (Matt); his granddaughter Gianna Williams; his sisters, Darlene Weeda and Bev DeBoer (Ron); and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn VanderWerff, Jack Byeman (MaryAnn), Karen Kok (Joel) and Arlene Byeman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
