He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Matre and Rose Van Matre (Clark); his wife Dorothy Van Matre (Heiner); his children, Alison Forsman and Dale Van Matre; and his sister Phyliss Hagerty (Van Matre).
He is survived by: his son Doug Van Matre (Margo); his daughter-in-law Susan Van Matre; his grandchildren, Misty Saldiver (Dustin), Nicci Troupe (Derek), Lexie Henderson (Joey), Stephanie Yarton (Ryan) and Chelsea Kovesh (Amir); and his sister Lucille Taylor (Van Matre). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
