He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Poland and Ruby Poland; his former wife Valerie (Kohn); and his siblings, Donna Michel and Doug Poland.

He is survived by: his wife Lyla Poland; his children, Candy Thornhill (Bryan), Melanie Cartwright (Brian), Melissa Poland-Knapik (Bryan) and Dennis W. (Mindy); his grandchildren, Austin, Trentin Thornhill, Bailey Newell (Chandler), Kennedy, Camryn Cartwright, Bryson, Ayden, Nathan Knapik, Trey and Carter Poland; his great grandchild Cooper Thornhill; his daughter Mindy Rogers (Greg); and his grandchildren, Lauren, Payton, Logan and Zac.

In 2008 they sold the home and started building a home in Kennewick, when Valerie's Alzheimer's progressed.
