He was predeceased by: his father John Jr. Maher (Regan); his sister Michelle Rimbey; his former wife Janet Maher; and his father-in-law John Samuelson (Sam). He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Maher of Pullman; his son John Maher IV of Gold Bar; his mother-in-law Rosemarie Samuelson of White Salmon; and his siblings-in-law, Carl Samuelson (Virginia) of Bothell, Kirk Samuelson of Vancouver, Chris Samuelson of Las Vegas and Paulette Lowery (Mike) of Pullman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In the 1990s, John broadened his career by joining the Hanford Environmental Health Foundation, serving as an administrator for onsite health clinics at Hanford under the Department of Energy.
