He was predeceased by : his parents, Jesse Dewald and Pauline Dewald; his siblings, Robert and Doris Marshall; and his former life partner Louise Scharff Dewald of Davenport.

He is survived by : his son Robert Lee (Susan); his close friend Karen Kagle; his grandchildren, Travis, Stacey and Jake (Savanna); and his great grandchildren, Russell, Coen and Riley.
