He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolland J. Shumate and Bernice Shumate (Enger). He is survived by: his wife Mildred O'Brien; his sisters, Beryl Davis and Emerald Kelley; and his children, Leroy Shumate (Rochelle) of Satsop, Scott Shumate (Tonia) of Satsop, Rocky Shumate (Lisa) of Morning Sun, Mike Shumate (Lorianda) of Chehalis, Keith Shumate (Julie) of Pheasant Hill, MO and Sherri Harvey (Juan) of Montesano. He is also survived by Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
