He was predeceased by: his parents, Luke James and Dora Mary Byrne (Lanier); and his siblings, Francis, Edward, Cecelia Mary, Louella, Agnes, Floreen and Luke.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Rowan; his children, Joseph Jr. (Robin), Stephen (Marie), Cheryl Shelton (Garey), Karen Schomburg and Chris; his grandchildren, Kyle (Jacque), Connor, Bryce Schomburg, Megan Rhoden (Kanale), Colleen, Katie, Tracie Takisaki (Bryan) and Sierra Schomburg; and his great grandchildren, Liam, Brennan, Declan, Owen, Guinevere, Finnian, Noah, Aurora and Gabriel. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
