Nicholas Gerardo DiMartino Obituary

Nicholas G. DiMartino, 63, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on January 4, 2026.
Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Nicholas grew up in East Brunswick, where he formed the roots of a life lived entirely on his own terms. He later made his home in Seattle, Washington, where he remained for 26 years.
While in Seattle, Nicholas found both purpose and pride in his work as a dog groomer. He was a talented professional who owned and operated his own grooming shop, a reflection of his independence, dedication, and gentle heart. His patience, kindness, and genuine love for animals were evident to every client—both human and canine—and he took great joy in caring for the dogs entrusted to him. His shop was more than a business; it was an extension of who he was.
Nick was eccentric—sometimes oblivious—but always deeply joyful. He was unbothered, quirky, and whimsical down to his soul. He lived a life of radical authenticity, never pretending to be anyone other than exactly who he was. That fearless honesty continues to inspire those who loved him.
He had a passion for music, especially the sounds of the 1980s, which brought him comfort, nostalgia, and happiness. Those who knew him can still hear his effervescent chuckle and the way it effortlessly grew into a larger-than-life belly laugh—a sound that filled the room and lingered long after.
Nick was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Beverly DiMartino, who passed away in June 1989.
He is survived by his father, Ferdinando DiMartino; his sisters, Gail DiMartino, Beverly DiMartino, and Patricia Britske (DiMartino); two nieces, Michelle and Lyn Anne; two nephews, Christopher and Keith; three great-nephews, Matthew, Carter, and Ryan; and two great-nieces, Bella and Alexandra, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love.
The family is profoundly grateful to his friend and partner, Steve Wirbilowicz, for his love, compassion, and the unwavering devotion he showed in always being there for Nicholas.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family in May 2026. Nicholas will be remembered for his joy, his laughter, and the unmistakable light he brought into the world simply by being himself.
