He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Hinshaw (Maguire); his son Kevin Hinshaw; his daughter-in-law Malaika Hinshaw (Burt) of Seattle, Washington; his daughter Jennifer Makepeace (Hinshaw); his son-in-law Charles Makepeace of Little Compton; his grandchildren, Colin Makepeace and Hazel Hinshaw; and his sibling Shirley Smith of St. Louis, Missouri..
