He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Samuel and Laura Mabel Fernie (Baker). He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Edgington; his children, Cindy Parada (Jose) and Bruce Fernie; his grandsons, Devin Parada, Andrew Parada (Marisa) and Bruce Fernie (Cynthia); his sisters-in-law, Darlene Lawrence (Jerry) and Judy Johnson (Dale); his nephew Michael Cusack; his siblings, Wallace Fernie and Della Vik; his grandson Brennen Fernie; and his pet Nellie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
