He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Pedersen and Gladys Pedersen; his siblings, Karen Silva and Richard Pedersen (Sally); his brother-in-law Bob Bolinger; and his son Kurt Pedersen.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Hintz; his children, Kirsten Barkman (Eric) and Brent Pedersen (Beth); his daughter-in-law Bernadett Pinter; his grandchildren, Kara, Joel, Anna Barkman, Ben and Mia Pedersen; his siblings, Jerri Bolinger and Oliver Pedersen (Janice); and his brother-in-law Mark Silva (Nancy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
