Milton "Papa" Edward Lowe Obituary

"In loving memory of Ed 'Papa' Lowe. There are some people whose lives are measured not by the titles he held, but by the love they gave and the lives they changed. Papa was a proud United States Marine, respected Boeing engineer, accomplished handball player, and above all, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was intelligent, reserved, and calm, with a quiet strength, and a wonderful sense of humor. When he married my mother in 1973, he embraced our family, raising three young daughters as his own, while remaining a devoted father to his two biological daughters. He taught us family is built by love and commitment, not just by blood. One of the greatest examples he set was his unwavering love for my mother, a marriage of loyalty, respect, and quiet devotion that lasted until her passing in 2018. Papa believed in hard work. After serving proudly as a Marine, he dedicated years to Boeing as an engineer, even returning to work twice after retirement, simply because he enjoyed having a purpose. When he finally retired for good, he devoted much of his time to helping raise my son, Colby, becoming a steady father figure and passing on the same values he gave me. He was a proud and loving papa to all his grandchildren, and his influence will live on for generations. Outside of family and career, one of his greatest passions was handball. As a member of the Washington Athletic Club and the Munchers Athletic Club, he became an outstanding player and created memories I will forever cherish watching him play. From the time I was 4 and half years old Papa shaped who I became, teaching me honesty, integrity, kindness, compassion, respect, and humility. He was the greatest man I have ever known. Loving him has been one of life's greatest blessings, and his example will guide me always. Papa shared a lifelong bond with his family. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, my mother, in 2018, and by his beloved sister, Colleen. He is survived by his brother Russ, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives he enriched. His life was a testament to faithfulness, to his country, to his work, to his wife, to his family, and grandchildren. To so many, he was a respected Marine, engineer, teammate, mentor, and friend. To me, he was simply my Papa, the man who raised me, believed in me, and taught me what it means to live with honor, compassion, and love. There will never be another man like him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered with gratitude. I love you Papa
