He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce Cox and Ruth Cox; his brother Ross Cox; and his wife Donna Cox. He is survived by: his children, Colleen Schaffer (Mike), Dave Cox Jr. (Barbie) and Todd Cox (Laura); and his grandchildren, Shayla, Nathan, JoAnna, Stephan, Catherine, Frankie, Maria and Katie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hennessey Funeral Home (2203 N Division St, Spokane, WA 99207). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Spokane Memorial Gardens (5909 Cheney Spokane Rd, Spokane, WA 99224). A reception will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at 420 W Francis Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Nels Venerus Foundation to help continue Dave's passion for youth hockey and support future generations of young athletes.
