She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph A. Haines and Katherine H. Haines; her husbands, John Knowles Dempsey and Graham; her siblings, Burnell and Cynthia; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Dempsey.

She is survived by: her siblings, Lillian and Ralph; her children, Thomas Dempsey (Kathy), Matthew Dempsey (Lynn), Katherine Pederson (Stan) and James Dempsey (Wanda); her grandchildren, Joanna, Brian, Alex, Jennifer, Jason, Sarah and Stephen; and her stepdaughters, Sarah Lee, Molly, Susie and Jo. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Shriner's Children's Hospital of Spokane, WA.
