He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilhelm and Louise (Hemmerling); his wife Marcine Hardung of Odessa; his siblings, Emil, Arthur, Harold, Henry, John, Walt, William, Martha, Elsie, Ruby, Lorene and Esther; and his great grandchild Cassandra Evavold.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Deife of San Diego, CA, Julie Deife (Robert) of Corrales, NM, William Deife (Jayne) of Odessa, WA, Mark Deife (Helen) of Las Vegas, NV, Jan Deife of Ritzville, WA and Jean Lewis (Craig Smith) of Davenport, WA; his grandchildren, Jill Evavold, Thomas Winfrey, Cameron, James Stevenson, Miles, Connor Deife, Lauren, Kristen Kane and Jackson Lewis; and his great grandchildren, Kaela McVicker, Damon, Booker Stevenson and Nova Stevenson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be given to the Heritage Church of Odessa or the Odessa Historical Museum.
