She was predeceased by: her parents, Hilda Benzel (Schafer) and Fred Benzel Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Roy G. Schmidt; her great grandchildren, Jesus and Lord; her children, Keith (Darlene), Kevin (Bonnie), Kerry (Missy), Kenneth Schmidt (Charlotte) and Athena Willard (Michael); her brother Donnie (Barbara Benzel); her close friend Shirley Pitsch Margheim of Hardin Montana; her siblings-in-law, Dick Kroll (Wash) of Bremerton and Marilyn Benzel of Milton, Florida; and her nieces and nephews, Chanda Chen (Tyler) of Bremerton, Karen Schwayne of Hagerman, Idaho, Mike Benzel (Kelly) of Mackoville, Paul Benzel (Heather) of Nampa and Trent Kroll (Darla) of Hood River, Oregon.. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Big Horn County Historical Society (1163 3rd St. E., Hardin, MT 59034) earmarked for upkeep of the original E&R Church where Carol was baptized, confirmed and married.
