He was predeceased by : his former life partner Sylvia; his son Matthew Greg Long; his brothers, Mike Long and Leslie Long Jr.; and his parents, Ruth Long and Leslie Long Sr..

He is survived by : his wife Cheryl; his daughters, Leona Vanderlinda (Steven), Catherine Lowery (Edwin), Joy Luthy (John) and Jeanna Kooser (Chris); and his grandson Matthew Worley. He is also survived by Grandpa Long had thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
