He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Schafer and Cora Schafer (Cosner); and his siblings, Gilbert, Ben Schafer, Iola Jean Schafer and Lorene Hicks (Schafer).
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Schafer (Perry); his children, Roy Schafer (Debi) of Wasco and Karen Ables (Scott Ables) of Portland Oregon; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas (Schafer), Joseph Schafer, Vance Schafer, Chance Schafer, Ariel Westfall (Ables), Emily Ables and Micah Ables.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Grace Brethren Church (703 Franklin Ave, Sunnyside, WA 98944). A burial was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at the Outlook Cemetery (4901 Gap Rd, Outlook, WA 98938).
