He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Lester and Eulalia Juanita Stafford (Meinzer); his wife Kay Charlene Stafford; his daughter Janice Lynn Stafford Gonzales; and his brothers, Loyd John Stafford, Kenneth Dale Stafford and James Ansell.

He is survived by: his son Steven Dale Stafford; his daughter-in-law Margaret Ruth Stafford (Meg); his siblings, Darlene (Stafford) Sink (Richard), Ralph Lee Stafford and Thomas Eugene Ansell (Barb); his grandchildren, Lucas Steven Brownlee (Thao) and Emily Kay (Brownlee); his great grandchildren, Symarah Plumb, Austin Plumb, Hunter Plumb, Natalie Brownlee and Gilliam Brownlee; and his cousin Greg Meinzer. He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
