He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob DeRuyter and Alida DeRuyter; and his former wife Margaret Bettencourt. He is survived by: his wife Arlene; his sons, Steve (Sharon), Robert, Dan, Tom (Suzi) and George (Abbie); his stepson Brian (Jennifer); his siblings, Ann Dykzeul, Peter DeRuyter (Fran), Jake DeRuyter (Judy), Ed DeRuyter (Cory) and Dorothy Koetsier (Otto); and his sister-in-law Mary DeRuyter. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made in George's memory to the Sister Rebecca Berghoff Foundation at St. Joseph School in Yakima.
