He was predeceased by: his parents, Gunder Gunderson and Clara Gunderson; his great-grandparent Grant; his grandmothers, Audrey and Linda; his former wife Linda Gunderson; the mother of his children Linda Gunderson; and his brother Tom Gunderson.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Gunderson; his brother Rob Gunderson; his sons, Grant Gunderson, Thor Gunderson (Christina) and Drew Gunderson; his grandchild Stian; his stepdaughters, Amy Harrington (Patrick) and Julie Kuchtyn; and his stepgrandchildren, Brennan, Ryan, Meghan, Kyle and Danika.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of the following organizations: The Sjögren's Foundation, Rod's House Yakima, or St. Paul Cathedral, Diocese of Yakima.
