He was predeceased by : his parent Carmen Schmid (Terpestra). He is survived by : his father Stanley Schmid of Albany; his daughter Amillia of Albany; his siblings, Adamm Schmid (Melissa) of Lone Rock, WI, Cody Schmid of Fond, Dustin Schmid of Albany and Amber Schmid of St. Joseph's, MO; and his nieces and nephews, Dylan, Alister, Evan, Isabel, Sadie and Nova.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Matthew's name.
