It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Jacob Hughes of Amery, Wisconsin, born in Brandon, Wisconsin, who passed away on June 5, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hughes and Ruth Hughes; his siblings, John, Mary (Ed Buchholtz), Lillian (Glenn Long), Alice (Harvey Anderson), Helen (Jack Hollerung), Erna (Roy Jacobsen) and Phyllis (Jake Sandmann); his siblings-in-law, Aldy Stephens and Sharon Hughes; and his great grandchild Kali Laqua.

He is survived by: his wife Jacie; his siblings, June Stephens and David Hughes (Jill); his children, Lynn Pickard (Mike) of Amery, John Hughes (Mona) of Andover, MN, Brian Hughes (Kathy) of Fairbanks, AK and Steve Hughes (Lilia) of Palmer, AK; and his grandchildren, Matthew Pickard (Lori), Katie Elmer (Bill), Susie Thayer (Matt), Marc Hughes (Molly), Elizabeth Davis (Jacob), Jacob Hughes (Erin), James Hughes (Shawna), Joseph Hughes (Dani), Jackie Renner (Dustin), Jennifer Renner (Clay), Jessica Gallager (Dennis), Jasmine Bujak, Jannelle Hughes and Johanna Hughes. He is also survived by 37 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
