He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hartfiel and Anna Hartfiel (Pagel); and his siblings, Mary Kruse (Bernard), Donald Hartfiel, Shirley Hanson (Bob), Patricia Christensen (David), Stanley Hartfiel, Cynthia Hartfiel and Sam Clark.
He is survived by: his sons, Jason Hartfiel (Collette) and Joe Hartfiel; his granddaughters, Kayla Bowe (Ryan) and Josephine Smith; his sisters, Darlene Ernst, Donna Jean Clark, Marjorie Knudsen and Sharon Nollenberg (Ronnie); his great-niece Brianna Popp; his great-nephew Cole Popp; his goddaughters, Jessica Popp and Samantha Daley; and his caregivers, Jackie, Ida, ThedaCare and Roger. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
