He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Abel and Ethel Abel (Hoks); and his stepmother Edna Vonck. He is survived by: his wife Mary Vonck; his children, Julie Allongue (Jean-Didier) and Timm Abel; his grandchildren, Matthew, Hope, Faith and Raphael; his great grandchild Addilyn; his sisters, Joan Marohl (Tom) and Kate Hardt (Jim); his stepsiblings, Ron Christensen (Karen), Valerie Allen and Imogene Solberg (Von); and his nephew Todd Marohl (Melanie). He is also survived by other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, Menasha, in memory of Don.
