It is with sadness that the passing of Dorothy Hackel (Appleton, Wisconsin) is shared. Dorothy, born on June 3, 1950, passed away on October 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Roger Goerl and Cecelia Goerl (Heimermann); her siblings, Susan Miller and David "Whitey" Goerl; her parents-in-law, Joseph, Rosemary and Florence Hackel; and her brothers-in-law, George Hackel, Leon Propson and Bob Miller.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ann Elenbaas (Dan) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Alicia Place (Elliot) of La Crosse, Wisconsin and Angela Hackel (Being) of Washington, D. C; her husband Lee Hackel; her siblings, Jan Propson of Potter, WI and Dan Goerl (Diane) of Appleton; her in-laws, Val Hackel, Trish Lenhardt, Marla Garber (Paul), Tim Hackel (Pat), Donna Vanden Heuvel (Judd), Jeff Hackel (Barb), Dan Hackel (Jackie) and David Hackel; and her godson Vincent Propson (Christy). She is also survived by her three daughters, sons-in-law and her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church (1617 W Pine St, Appleton, WI 54914). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
