He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth J. Schmitt and Carlton E. Schmitt; his siblings, Gloria A. Goehl, Carlton F. Schmitt and Ronald L. Schmitt; his nephew Ian J. Elliott; his in-laws, Shirley and Harry Schultz; and his brother-in-law Mike Schultz.
He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Jeremy (Jennifer), Josh (Sarah), Kurt (Kiley), Nick (Amanda), David Reh (Heather) and Jenny Cihak (Garry); his grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Katelyn, Owen, Breanne, Ava, Charlotte, Alrik, Mickayla and Kylie; his siblings, Shirley Strong (Rick), Elaine Van Daalwyk (Roger) and Ed Schmitt (Shelly); and his brothers-in-law, Gary Schultz, Todd Schultz, Patrick Schultz and Greg Schultz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
