He was predeceased by: his father Henry Jochman; his wife Doris Huiting; his daughter-in-law Debbie Jochman; his granddaughter Rachel Jochman; his siblings, Harvey (Leona), Vernon (Gladys), Lawrence (Veronica), Ervin, Leona Weyenberg (Robert), Viola Moser (Clifford), Gertrude Langenhuizen (John), Arlene Conti (Enzo), Edward (Eunice) and Cyril (Margaret); his siblings-in-law, Donald Brochtrup, James Vanden Heuvel and Gladys McHugh (Donald); and his parents-in-law, John and Harriet Huiting.
He is survived by: his children, Barb Hooyman (Jeff), Lynn Vande Voort (Steve "Bucky"), Judy Ver Bust (Bill), Steve Jochman, Jill Jochman and Mike Jochman; his grandchildren, Jenny Drum (Dan), Danielle LaMaide (Brandon), Ryan Vande Voort (Karie), Julie Calmes (Jesse), Matt Ver Bust (Kristen), Tom Ver Bust (Leah), Eric Jochman (Alanna), Alex Jochman, Cole Jochman and Lauren Jochman; his sister Doris Vanden Heuvel; and his brother-in-law Donald Huiting (Mary).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Spierings Cancer Foundation in Melvin's memory.
