She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Filz and Virginia Filz (Priebe); and her siblings, Katherine Kessel (Pete) and Shirley Frailing (Robert). She is survived by: her children, Debi Kraus, Don Merkel, Dave Merkel (Carrie) and Dean Merkel; her niece Sue Vollstedt; her grandchildren, Laura Moore (Adam), Jennifer Ball (Josh), Robert Merkel (Alex) and Justin Merkel (Becca); and her great grandchildren, Avelyn, Amelia, Peter Moore, Madeline Verstegen, Levi, Ruby and Ellis Merkel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Valley Funeral Home (2211 N Richmond St, Appleton, WI 54911). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
