He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland W. Thiel and Ruth F Thiel (Rogers); his wife Helen; and his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth and Reed.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Thiel of Ramsey, MN, Lisa Campbell (Thomas) of Draper, UT, Jennifer Brant (Warren) of Crystal, MN and Douglas Thiel (Maureen) of Somers, CT; and his siblings, Roger Thiel of Appleton, WI and June Stenli (Vern) of Sioux Falls, SD.. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (724 E South River St, Appleton, WI 54915). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
