He was predeceased by: his parents, Irma Mignon Defferding (Mickey) and Ory Defferding; and his brother-in-law Rick Hartig. He is survived by: his wife Bette (Elizabeth Hartig); his children, Kathryn (Katie) and Brian; his grandchildren, JJ and Izzy; his sister Judy Higgins of Georgetown, TX; his nephews, David of Houston, TX and Chris of Austin, TX; and his niece Samantha Hartig of Minneapolis, MN.
Wayne was instrumental in forming "Fund 59" (the year he graduated from Appleton West) at the Appleton Education Foundation so that members of his class Could raise money for much needed Smart Boards for Appleton West High School classrooms.
