He is survived by: his son Bill; his wife Donna; his sons, Perry Abitz (Therese) and Tony Abitz (Linda); his stepdaughter Jennifer Schaenzer (Steve); his grandchildren, Tony Abitz (Crystal), Robert Abitz (Alexandria), Luke Abitz (Bethany), Claire Abitz, Joe Abitz (Amanda), Faye Jackson (Oscar), Grace Abitz, Skylar Sommers, Madison Sommers, Jordan Schaenzer and Megan Schaenzer; and his siblings, Daniel Abitz (Patricia) and Gretchen Brei (Keith). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
